Upcycled Jewellery box :)

Hi,

The climate here was so cool and it made me so lazy that I was literally lying down all day in the cozy sofa :P Finally,I am here with this post today. There are no scrapbooking supplies here,no distress inks,no die-cutting machines,no pattern papers, and I can go on and on.So,I try to do little of what I can find here.

Today,I was in the mood of upcycling the small Jewellery box.It was made of super thick cardstock and was so cute that I did not want to throw it away.

I sticked some scrap items on the top of the box(like the one remaining from some electrical work done in my house,a heart shaped embellishment remaining from a project, cold porcelain flowers from a plunger) using the glue gun. Some aluminium foil was damaged exactly in the middle so I was not able to roll it up for packaging lunch.I decided to use that also.

I crushed the foil and pasted it all over the box and started defining the outline of the scrap items using a smooth tip as I was not having an embossing tip.I had to be extra careful not to tear it.

I wanted to paint it using metallic colors, but that was not available. So,I chose two colors from the 3d outliner that I had.First,I painted it the bronze colour and allowed it to dry and gave it a second coat. Then,I painted roughly with the green and allowed it to dry.

This was giving it a rustic look. But,I wanted the box to look like an antique rustic piece.
So,I painted it with black all over it.

Now,I sprinkled little water over it,and then dabbed excess of black paint using a tissue.I removed it in a random way leaving more black at a side and less at the other.Allowed it to dry.Voila!!Loved the effect of the rustic look and also the scrap items were showing off so beautifully :) The colors are looking different in each photo,I guess the camera was playing its magic as the sky was beginning to darken.

I hope to repeat it this project using coins or keys as the embellishment and different color combo in the future.
Do let me know how you like it!

Quilled Jewellery :)

Hi,

Here are few quilled jewellery pieces that I made recently.Hope you like them :)

First is the Tricolored pendant set.We had the Bahrain National day recently and there were flags around everywhere. And that is when I missed Indian flag :( So, made this set and when the republic day is round the corner,I am happy that I made it :)
And few other random earrings which I made :) Best to wear some funky designs and stand out among the crowd in this festive season !

Roses for Mom!!

Hi,

I had made Cold porcelain successfully and started experimenting with it.I love roses and started making it.Colored the CP before hand sculpting with the acrylic color.Didn't count while making them!!

After it dried,I started counting them and it was 48!!! Sent the pics to my sis,who has then showed it to my mom.My mom called me and told that they were looking real and asked me to bring them for her when I return back to India :) She is someone who will do anything for flowers, she is just crazy for flowers especially for the smell of the English rose :)

Small break from quilling :P

Hi,

Yay! I had got few craft supplies and brought it here through a friend..But,still loads of stuff are yet to arrive from my itsy bitsy shopping.Hoping to have it soon here through someone visiting India.  I have been quilling a red monarch butterfly in A4 size recently and wanted to take make something different.I had some homemade cold porcelain remaining after I had hand sculpted nearly 50 roses which I will share soon.

Took the cold porcelain and used the quilling mould to make big half pearl shape for the pendant and made it in smaller size for the stud type earring.I did not find any metallic paints here,so painted roughly to get an antique effect with the copper colored 3d outliner :P Used a plunger to design the center of the pendant and earring.Climate here is not adding any justice to this beauty in the photography :( But,I am in love with this piece.

Next,is the little pendant which I made with the pearls and quilling strip.I cut a small square out of a cardstock and glued pearls to it using the glue gun and surrounded it with the quilling strips for defining the outline. In order to cover the gap between the pearls,I sticked small tight coils :P

Here Comes Santa !!

Hi,

I know christmas is over, but would love to share the Santa I made for christmas :) This was my first 3d miniaturte.I am extemely thankful to Pritesh for the amazing tutorial.I made some changes in the numbers to make mine. There are no quilling supplies available in Bahrain :( I had bought only my slotted quilling tool and few strips from India. Finally managed to find a paper shredder here and some coloured sheets.(though I am disappointed with the colour range available )

It was difficult without the quilling coach and the mould, but managed to complete it.I had got the cart here in a shop and found it was just perfect for the Santa! Sticked the card with the double tape for the sentiment.I am not too happy with the facial features and hope to improvise in the future.

Will share my new love super soon..:)

Great Start to 2014 :)

Hi,

I wanted to start blogging long back, but lazy me! :( Better late than never! Now,here it is..I had loved crafts during my school days especially glass painting and pot design.Life changed after college and work.Saw some beautiful quilling before an year and there I found my first love! Ordered a quilling kit right away as there were none in my town. The day I came across the word beehive technique and googled it,I found that it was the same that I had been doing already by myself!! That was the moment..I came to know that quilling is within me.This blog will be a place where I share about my craft experiments and also my quilled creations.

I am aiming for perfection and to put lot more patience in my creations. Thanks to all Bloggers out there for their inspirations.I hope to learn more and love to share my craft creations.

I am in all festive mood and thought of posting this quilled earring that I made recently. The red and yellow combo makes it all grand and festive enough with the dual strip beehive technique.Hope you like it.:)
